Reading 4 books at once - how did that happen!

So, my next book I am reading currently in my list of 100 books is "The Adventures of Huck Finn". Now before I read this one I did read "Tom Sawyer" (both by Mark Twain). I found "Tom Sawyer" fantastic and cant believe that it isn't one of the books on the Easton Press list. So far while reading "Huck Finn" I have found that I "like" it but I "loved" Tom Sawyer. In "Tom Sawyer" I found myself giggling out loud at the trouble Tom and Huck would get into. But, unfortunately, I am not finding myself doing the same with "Huck Finn" though I think it is a well written novel.

In the meantime, while reading these books, I find myself reading many books at once. I win and review many books on a website that I am a member of. So I have read also: "Soaring Above Co-Addiction" and "Letters From a Nut". Both books were very good.

Now, outside of reading "Huck Finn", I am reading "Even More Letters From a Nut" (absolutely hilarious), "How to Slay a Dragon, and "The Love of Country". How am I doing this? Well at work I read "Huck Finn" on my ereader. I usually get 30-1hr lunch and I have nothing better to do. It only takes me 15 min to eat. At night I retire to my bed about 8pm and I try to read a chapter from each book (depending on the size of the chapter).

My cousin says that she has had to read and review several books in which the book was awful. So far I haven't had to do that and am not looking forward to it when the day comes. I'm sure it will be soon. Well time top go read.

Sushi and books

My cousin, Mary, who loves books as much as me has decided to read my list along with me and we can have discussions about the books. I am so excited. We already try to go out once a month for lunch, which is usually sushi at the local Tokyo restaurant. Now we can have books dicussions while we eat sushi. Have I died and gone to heaven...sushi and books...outside of my kids these have to be two of my favorite things. I am excited to have her joining me in my journey.

My cousin is a lawyer and has gone back to school so she can be a law librarian. She reads lots of books and reviews them for several websites. One of her websites is: https://sites.google.com/site/marysbookcorner/home. Here you can find reviews on the many books she has read. She has over 500 books in her library.

Awakened by Cast

I took a quick break for a week to go off from my list and read a book that I had been waiting for awhile to come out.

I have anticipated for the books to come out and when it did, it was no disappointment. Out of all the House of Night novels, I thought this one was the best. The only negative was at the end of the book I had to scream because the next one doesnt come out untill November 2011 and I want to know what happens next. It left me wanting more.

Next on my list is The Adventures of Mark Twain and Huckleberry Finn....let the adventure begin.

Frankenstein

This was one of the best books I have ever read. It was an easy read unlike David Copperfield. I was pulled emotionally for which character I was rooting for (Frankenstein or his creation). I understood Frankensteins remorse for his mistakes and his struggle to right his wrong and make the right decision for the future; but I also felt compassion for his creation (aka the monster)and his desire to have love, compassion and acceptance in his life. I disagreed with some of both their decisions to help them get what they wanted in life. A truely tragic story.

Book 100 down - on to #99

I finally finished book 100 on my list...David Copperfield by Mark Twain. It took me forever only because I had been really busy and not able to read much but once I got my Kobo ereader for Christmas I started reading almost everyday. The book was excellent. The only problem I had was trying to adjust and understand the English jargon. Even when I had adjusted there were times when I still had trouble understanding what was going on. One time all of a sudden there was someone with a pet elephant. I was so confused. Was there really a pet elephant or was it just a metaphor and if it was a metaphor, what the heck did it mean. In the end, I really enjoyed reading about his journey through life and was happy with the ending. Now it is on to book 99: Frankenstein by Mary Sheely.

Halfway there!

I am now halfway through "David Copperfield". Though it may take me about two more months to finish, I am absolutely loving the book. I find myself feeling sad for little Copperfield as he struggles through his childhood and find myself laugh out loud when I read his perception on the happenings going on around him and the people in his life. Right now I am getting to view his life as a young adult. When my daughter is somewhere that I have to drive her to, she will sometimes say I'm sorry or I feel bad that you have to wait for me. I enjoy having to wait in the car for long periods of time for my kids because that just gives me quiet time alone getting to read.

Going Slowly

Just so everyone knows: I havent quit; it is just the reading is going at a slow pace. So far I was worried when I started reading David Copperfield because of the English dialogue. I had a little trouble understanding what the characters were talking about. Now I am about 100 pages into the book. I still have trouble understanding some words or sentences but for the most part I'm getting it. I am enjoying reading this book. It is going slow alone because I have only had about 30 min/day to read (usually during my lunch time) and in the evening I have been busy with another task. I hope to done with the evening task by the end of the month and given more free time to read at night. My daughter is taking British Lit at school this year, which made me excited. I asked her, "Are you going to read David Copperfield?" But she doesnt know yet. Oh well, we own the book now and if she wants to then it will be here for her to read.
